The Solea Laser is revolutionizing the way dentistry works, as well as how people feel about a dental visit. That’s because treatment with the Solea Laser is:
People will be happy to know that the Solea Laser allows for virtually painless preparations of teeth and gums. Most of the discomfort associated with drills is related to the pressure and vibrations that disturb the pulp inside the tooth–the enamel and dentin being treated aren’t sensitive. So when we remove the disturbance of the drill, most people don’t need anesthesia for their dental procedures–though we still have it if it makes you more comfortable.
One benefit of not need anesthesia for your dental procedure (besides not leaving with numb lips) is that you don’t have to wait for anesthesia to take effect before we begin treatment. And because Solea works much faster than a traditional drill–we can define a specific pattern of light and the computer-controlled mirrors are capable of moving 10,000 times a second. You’ll be in and out of your dental appointments much faster than you ever thought possible!
Drills can only control treatment to the narrowness of the bit, but with Solea, we’re working with a beam of light. We can define it as precisely as we want, allowing us to accomplish the precise shape we want.
We understand that for many people the sound of the drill is as bad for their dental anxiety as the feel. You’ll be happy to know that Solea is virtually silent–you’ll hardly know it’s on.
We also know that people who have tried laser dentistry in the past were disappointed when the drill actually had to come out. But that’s not an issue with Solea–Solea can perform all the procedures without need to rely on the drill at all.
Diode lasers are the lowest-power lasers used in dentistry. They’re typically good for soft tissue applications like gum recontouring and periodontal treatment.
Erbium lasers (Er:YAG, short for Erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet) is a solid-state laser that provides higher-energy pulses. This means that they’re good not only for soft-tissue treatment, but can be used to reshape enamel and dentin. But in some cases, they still don’t have enough power to give optimal results in reshaping hard tissue.
Solea is a CO2 laser, which means that it can emit higher-energy pulses than other dental lasers. It’s unique even among CO2 lasers: it uses a special, refined form of oxygen to give the laser a different wavelength. This wavelength is better for dental procedures than the CO2 lasers used for skin and other treatments.
